Title: Increasing Access of People with Disabilities to Hospitality Spaces and Careers

According to the US Census Bureau’s 2021 American Community Survey, 42.5M (or 13%) of Americans have a disability (and that percentage grows as the population ages). This population of people with disabilities represents a large customer base, as well as a talented pool of current and future employees. Businesses and industry need to increase access for their customers, as well as access, advancement, and retention for current and future employees. This is not just the “right thing to do” - it’s good business. Explore how to increase the access of people with disabilities to hospitality settings, including physical and informational access, training, credentials, hiring, and advancement. Discover strategies and practices from industry leaders, trainers, subject matter experts, and people with disabilities, as well as “hands on” resources that businesses can use right away, such as sample hiring policies, manager training materials, universal design tips, and federal technical assistance programs.
