Wine Director at Gibsons Restaurant Group

Born and raised in the Bay Area, Cassie Sakai grew up experiencing wine culture through the eyes of her food and wine loving family. After college, Cassie moved to Chicago and quickly fell in love with the city and its restaurant industry. Beginning her journey in the industry as a server, Sakai worked for Alpana Singh, who inspired a love and curiosity for wine. Cassie became a certified sommelier at the age of 22. It wasn’t long before Sakai made her way to Girl & the Goat, where she started serving and working in the cellar. She eventually moved into her first Wine Director role there, where she cultivated an award-winning wine program. Shortly after, she grew into the Goat Group Wine Director, overseeing four restaurant wine lists within Boka Restaurant Group.

In 2021, she became the Wine Director for Gibsons Restaurant Group, a Chicago restaurant staple. Her approach to hospitality and education is to make food and wine as fun and approachable as possible. In her free time, she enjoys running with her dog, checking out new restaurants, and cooking in her home.
